I am very sorry to learn of Mr. Jolly’s passing. I have known him since I was a little boy. He once told me that, “I was the meanest little kid he ever knew”. I think he was kidding. He was a wonderful man. When my father was dying of cancer back in 94-95, he would go with us to the casino. He won $1000 his very first trip. May he rest in peace.
I was back in Memphis a few years ago, watching westerns on TV with Papa J. He asked if I wanted to see a vacation movie from a trip he’d made to Wyoming years ago. We started watching the video, apparently shot from a camera sitting on a car dashboard. Although it seemed a bit slow at first, I came to really enjoy Papa J’s dialogue of his memories of that trip. It was wonderful to see my home state through his eyes and experiences. I am so happy to have been accepted into his family.
