Monnie Brandon's Obituary
Monnie Grey Brandon was born in Central, SC on July 17, 1925. Her family moved to Charlotte, NC soon thereafter. She trusted Jesus at a young age and has now gone to see Him face to face. She met her husband to be in high school in Charlotte. After WWII they moved to Memphis where their two sons were born. She was an active member of the King’s Daughters, The Woman’s Exchange, The Duration Club, Dur-Arts, and The Tennessee Bridge Assn. She earned the status of Silver Life Master in bridge before she retired from competition in 1995. She leaves her husband of 65 plus years, Gil Brandon, and two son ,Gil Jr. and wife Cynthia and Steve and wife Chris as well as 6 grandchildren: Gil III and wife Jennifer, Stephen, Michelle and husband Jamie, Evan and wife Lauren, Erica and husband, Chip, and Christopher and wife Leesa, and 13 great grandchildren. She also leaves a sister, Zenobia Nantz of Austin, TX. Visitation will be from 2 PM to 3 PM on June 7 at Independent Presbyterian Church, where she was a member, with services following visitation. Internment will be at the mausoleum in Memorial Park Cemetery in Memphis. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to your favorite charity or Memphis Alliance Hospice 6453 Shelby View Dr, Suite 103, 38134.
