Minerva Purnell Blanton's Obituary
Minerva Purnell Blanton, 92, passed away peacefully at home, Wednesday, November 11, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Cecil T. Blanton and son, Charles F. Freeman. Born in Myrtle, MS in 1923, she lived in Memphis, TN 50 years and Olive Branch for the past 42 years. She worked at the original Pappy and Jimmy’s Lobster Shack for 18 years and Wilson World Hotel for 20 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Olive Branch, MS, Ladies Legion Belle’s Al Chymia Shrine Temple, Ladies organization at Olive Branch Shrine Club, Gator’s Club that helped charitable organizations, and Golden Branches Seniors Club of Olive Branch. She leaves her son, Ricky J. Blanton (Lori); daughter, Vickie B. Smith (Charlie); sister, Inez Cowgill Poteete; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by many. Funeral services will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, November 14 from 1-2 p.m. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, she requested memorials be sent to Al Chymia Shrine Transportation for Children or Olive Branch Shrine Transportation Fund for Children. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119. “Celebrating Life… Behind the Stone Wall”
