Millard S. French's Obituary
Millard S. French, 92, of Memphis, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2009. Mr. French went to Memphis City Schools and attended Mid-South Institute of Accountancy. He later received an Accounting degree from Memphis State University where he was an honorary member of Gamma Beta Phi Society. He was a member of Merton Ave. Baptist Church, a Scottish rite Mason, and former member of Shrine Oriental Band. Mr. French was a retied accountant after many years of service with E. L. Mercer Dental Supply Company. He was recognized as a specialist by associates in Corporate Matters and Taxation. He was a director and past president of National Association of Credit Management, Mid-South Unit, and former secretary-treasurer of old Southland Motors. Mr. French was an avid baseball fan having witnessed hall of fame players in action including Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe Dimaggio, Mickey Mantle, Ted Williams, and Larry Doby. He is preceded in death by his parents Seth T. French and Oleander McClenney French, a son Millard S. French Jr., a sister Doty Everett Phelan, and three brothers Lt. Leonard French ( ) and Howard French, Seth T French Jr. He leaves his loving wife of 45 years Janice Clark French, two daughters Elaine Haggitt Allen of Taos, NM, Ellen M. Barbaro of Memphis, four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 5, 2009, from 1-2:30 at Memorial Park Funeral Home with services to follow at 2:30 at the funeral home.
