Mildred Winsette's Obituary
Mildred Winsette of Jackson, TN was born November 30, 1923 to Benjamin and Lena McCombs. After her father’s death at age 34 during the great depression she and her five siblings and young mother had to move back with her mother’s parents to Booneville, MS. “Tootie” named by the family, learned to work hard at farming. Her work career covered many years in Memphis with Delta Airlines and culminated, at retirement, as a physician assistant for 25 years with Dr. John McGee. Married to John Winsette in 1946, they retired to Grand Junction, TN where they became involved in their community and made many lasting friends. John and Tootie enjoyed a full life of travel and had a second home on Pickwick Lake for 30 years. Preceded in death by her sister, Kathy Graham; brothers, George and Leo McCombs. She leaves behind a sister, Virginia Young and her brother Horace McCombs, Left to mourn and always remember her vitality for life are her daughters, Vicki Yates, Pat Gill; son, Jon Winsette, Jr and their spouses; grandsons, Patrick and P.J. Gill, Robby Yates; granddaughter, heather Yates, their spouses; and four great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 pm, Thursday, January 10, 2013 and a funeral service will be held at 2:30 pm, Friday, January 11, 2013 both at Memorial Park Funeral Home with the entombment to follow at Memorial Park Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers please send memorials to Forked Oak Baptist Church-Burton, Mississippi or the Alzheimer’s Association.
