Mildred Voigt's Obituary
Mildred Fern Voigt (nee Preszler), 83, of Memphis, TN, was called home by her Lord and Savior, Jesus on Oct 4, 2010 after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s disease. She was born in Meadow SD, June 1, 1927 to Jake and Christine Preszler. Mildred attended Meadow Central School and graduated from Lemmon High School in 1945 and graduated from Rapid City School of Business in 1946. She was a Legal Secretary in a law firm for five years in Rapid City SD. Mildred was married to J. Fred Voigt in 1950 and in 1951 she became a USAF wife and full time homemaker. In 1953 her husband, an Engineer, joined CB&I Co. and they made 13 moves in the West, Mid West, North West, and Mid South US before his retirement in Memphis in 1993. Mildred was a devoted full time homemaker which included being a 4-H club leader, a Cub Scout Den Mother, and school room mother activities. In numerous LCMS congregations and district offices in the Northern IL District she served as Social Ministry Chairman, Evangelism Board Member, Sunday school and VBS Teacher, Fellowship Board Member, Coordinator and secretary to District Project Compassion, and Prison Ministry Committees. While member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Memphis TN her LWML Service included being President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Christian Growth Chairman. While in the Memphis, TN Zone: Served in offices of President, Vice President/Christian Growth Chairman, Secretary/Treasurer and Publicity/Historian. District: Project Compassion Coordinator for the Northern IL. Dist. LWML. A Member/ and Chairman of the Mid-South District LWML /Christian Growth Committee. Third Vice-President of Mid-South District LWML (Mission Projects Chairman) and First Vice- President of the Mid-South District LWML. Mildred enjoyed gardening, scrapbooking, quilting and especially fishing on Lake Barkley near Cadiz, KY for the past 32 years. She is survived by her sister Pearle Ehlert, husband J. Fred, and children Jim (Cyn), Wendy (Wayne), Brad, Jay (Cathy); grandchildren David, Gail (Phil), Erin (Kevin), Janell, Allison, Mathew, Michael, Christine, Emily; Great-grandchild, Eileen-Alannah. She was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers: Arthur, Ervin, Harold, Harry, Raymond, Robert, Kenneth and two sisters, Lillian and Esther. In lieu of flowers donations are welcomed to: Immanuel Lutheran Church, Homebound Visitation Committee, Earl Dailey Scholarship Fund, SDSM&T Foundation, 501E St Joe St, Rapid City, SD 57701. Mildred’s quote: “I believe that Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, won salvation for me through His suffering, death and resurrection.
