Mildred Elwyn Hewlett Bramblett's Obituary
Mildred Elwyn Hewlett passed away on June 12, 2019 in Memphis, TN. She was born October 5, 1932 in Georges Creek, TX, the first born of Clarence T. and Mildred White Hewlett. She graduated co-valedictorian of Cleburne High School with the class of 1949 and studied at Texas State College for Women in Denton, TX. She completed her Bachelors and Masters degrees in Early Childhood Education at Memphis State University and dedicated her life to teaching elementary school, specializing in reading.Mildred was very creative and had a great thirst for knowledge. She enjoyed needlework, was a skilled seamstress and had a talent for creative writing. After her retirement from the Memphis City School system she volunteered at Cordova Church of Christ where she was a long time member. Most importantly she visited the elderly and set up a library at the church.Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Billy Carl Bramblett, her parents Clarence Thomas and Mildred Hewlett, and her brothers Dennis and Jack Hewlett. She is survived by daughters Susan Coffman and husband, Richard of Memphis, TN and Janet Lockwood of Fort Worth, TX; son Stephen Bramblett and wife, Annette of Huntsville, AL; brother Michael Hewlett and wife, Jan of Patuxent River, MD; sister Donna Edwards and husband, Donnie of Meridian, TX; and sister-in-law Elizabeth Hewlett. Her six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren include Michael Coffman; Jennifer Coffman and daughters, Alexandra and Sophia Konieczny; Shana Lawson, and daughter, Ella; Carl Bramblett; Ashley Hanson and sons, Payton, Nicholas, and Cameron Hanson; and Adam Beilstein and daughter, Kylee. She also had many beloved nieces and nephews.Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Avenue in Memphis. Family and friends wishing to come and be a part of the graveside service will need to follow the yellow arrows after coming through the Poplar Avenue entrance.
