Mike Butler's Obituary
Major General Charles Michel Butler (Mike) passed away peacefully on December 12th. He was born January 4th, 1940, in Lebanon, Tennessee. He was a proud graduate of one of the early classes of the United States Air Force Academy. He was predeceased by his parents Charles V. and Mary Louise Butler, sister Janella Stockdale, brother William R. Butler and his daughter Stacey Butler Koenenn (Rich)
He is survived by his wife of 62 years Dianne Bickers Butler; remaining children Cindy Butler Wyatt (David), Vicki Butler Payne (Bob), Robert Michel Butler (Beth), grandchildren Steven Wyatt, Amanda Wyatt Bennett, Brad Payne, Jeff Payne, Andrew Butler, Emily Butler, Katie Koenenn Manasco and Mary Elise Koenenn in addition to several great grandchildren.
Mike proudly served his country as a B52 bomber pilot in the United States Air Force and the Tennessee Air National Guard where he served as a pilot and a commander. In addition, he was a senior level Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) employee working on the national response teams for 9/11 attacks and the disintegration of the Space Shuttle Columbia in 2003.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Michael J Fox Foundation or the Parkinson's Foundation.
Visitation for Mike will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 from 11:30am to 12:30pm. A private graveside service will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
