Michelle (Mickie) L. Salmon's Obituary
Michelle “Mickie” Lavena Salmon, born on January 27, 1933, in Leachville, Arkansas, peacefully passed away on December 27, 2024, at the age of 91.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose warmth, kindness, and wisdom touched all who knew her.
Michelle was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Maurice Ira Salmon Sr., with whom she shared 14 wonderful years of marriage, and her son, Maurice Ira Salmon Jr., whose memory she cherished throughout the last few years of her life. She was also preceded by her parents, Elmer and Violet Carnett, her brothers, Kenneth Wayne Carnett and Dean Carnett, and her grandson, Blake Daniel Murphy.
She is survived by three children: Sherry Murphy and her husband Sonny, Kim McKinney and her husband Michael, and Kenneth Salmon and his wife Kathy. Michelle was a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren, who filled her life with joy, and nine great-grandchildren, who brought her endless delight.
Throughout her life, Michelle was a steadfast pillar of love and support for her family. Her home was always a place of refuge and comfort, where everyone could feel her love and care. Michelle had an incredible ability to make each person feel special, and her infectious spirit will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was quick to forgive and never held a grudge, which people can learn from.
Michelle’s legacy lives on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the many lives she touched with her selflessness, grace, and compassion. Her memory will forever be held in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were lucky enough to know her.
A memorial service will be held at Memorial Park on Thursday, January 2, 2025. Visitation will begin at 12:00, and a service will follow at 12:30 to honor Michelle's life.
Michelle will be greatly missed, but her love and spirit will continue to inspire and guide her family for generations to come.
