Michele "Shelly" Tinker Ellis' Obituary
Michele (Shelly) Tinker Ellis, daughter of Thurman and Margaret Tinker, both deceased, passed away on August 18, 2023 at Baptist East Hospital.
Born on July 6, 1963, Shelly is survived by her daughter Aerin Ellis and son Austin Ellis, as well as two very loved grandchildren, Macie and Logan. She also had seven sisters: Sandy (deceased), Betty Russell (Mike), Ann Vinson, Pat Anthony, Brenda Short (David), Beverly Farrell (Richard), and Becky Mahaffy (Kevin), and 15 nieces and nephews, as well as numerous extended family members and friends.
Shelly was a graduate of Wooddale High School. She also completed several company-sponsored courses in procedures, audits and company policies as she pursued a career in finance. Before settling on finance, Shelly began working in the field of medicine. She worked for Memphis Physicians Radiological Group as a radiological charge processor and then worked first as an admitting clerk and later as a ward clerk for St. Francis Hospital. In the ER, Shelly earned a reputation for being a hard worker. The more hectic the pace at the ER became, the more she thrived on accuracy and production. Later, she began her career in finance, working for E. F. Hutton in Austin, Texas, and then transferring to Prudential-Bache Securities also in Austin where she assisted five account executives. She ended her career in finance working for Wells Fargo Advisers in Memphis until she became unable to work after suffering from two strokes.
In her healthier days, Shelly is most remembered as a whirlwind of energy. That whirlwind was silenced in the last few years, and her family celebrates that she is no longer restricted by those earthly bonds. She is finally free.
Funeral Services for Shelly will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2023 at 1:00pm in the Riverside Chapel at Memorial Park Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for visitation an hour prior to the service starting at 12:00pm. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
