Michael Zingale's Obituary
Michael C. Zingale, 95, of Memphis, passed from this life on November 2, 2018. He was a WWII Marine Veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Corbett Zingale, and a grandson, Christopher Lapuente. Mr. Zingale is survived by his daughter, Monica Lapuente (Felipe) and a son, Michael Carl Zingale, Jr. (Lori), four grandchildren, Dr. Michael Lapuente (Della), Maria Lapuente Garrett (Tim), Philip Lapuente, Michael Zingale III, and two great-grandchildren, Alex and Elena Lapuente. His professional life as a director/cinematographer saw over 50 years of peering through a camera in over 30 countries. These adventures took him from his native Brooklyn, NY to the rapids of the Indus River on feature films. He is best known for being the original Candid Cameraman with Allen Funt, making the I Love New York commercials and being the Director of Photography on Taxi Driver for which he received international recognition and awards. A man of many talents, interests and passions, he embodied his favorite poem, Invictus. He loved music, dancing, playing piano, archery, skeet shooting, and camping. Dear to his heart was the Marine Corps League, the Knights of Columbus, and Amro Player’s Club. The visitation and Rosary will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home, Monday, November 12th from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a Rosary to be said at 7 p.m. The Mass will be Tuesday, November 13th at 1:30 p.m. at Church of the Holy Spirit, 2300 Hickory Crest Dr., Memphis TN. Interment will be at West TN Veterans Cemetery also on Tuesday at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Birthright of Memphis, Inc. or Forever Young Senior Veterans.
