Michael Ray Tregle, Sr.'s Obituary
Michael Ray Tregle, Sr., 66, of Collierville, passed away Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019. A native of New Orleans, he was a man who loved his family beyond measure and whose quick wit, generous spirit and wise counsel made a lasting impact on all who knew him.Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Rena Tregle, and three of his children: Emily Catherine, Noah Ritchie and Hallie Catherine.He is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Jody Ritchie Tregle. Together, they built a life centered on their love for each other and their children: Major Michael Tregle, Jr. (U.S. Army JAG Corp), Fort Campbell, Ky., and his wife, Major Heather Tregle (U.S. Army JAG Corp), currently deployed to Iraq; Chris Taylor of Memphis; Tim (Angelina) Tregle, of Prairieville, La.; Megan (Blake) Ruffino of Albany, La.; and Heidi (Brennon) Comish of Albany, La.He was blessed with seven amazing grandchildren who brought lots of laughter and incredible pride to their Poppy: Emma and Anna Tregle; Eli, Wyatt and Baleigh Comish and baby Ruffino due in May.Michael is also survived by his three sisters and their families: Cheryl (John) Sears of Hammond, La. and their children, Morgan (Dani) Daniels and Justin (Lindsey) Sears; Debbie (Frank) Landry of Metairie, La. and their daughters Michelle (Eric) Kieper and Suzanne (Steve) Louviere; and Terry (Jim) Bell of Madison, Ms. and their children Gretchen and Jacob.He will also be deeply missed by the Ritchie family, which he has been an important part of for 20 years. He is survived by Jody’s mother, Catherine Ritchie; her brother, Scott; her sisters, Janet and Nicole, nieces Kristin and Reagan, nephew Payne, and great-nephew Grayson.Michael loved bringing family and friends together, especially over food and football. A season-ticket holder and lifelong New Orleans Saints fan, he had hoped to see his team in the Super Bowl this year, but the referees let him – and the entire city – down. He was a brilliant man of many interests, from music and theater to making great gumbo and helping animals in need.Michael was an accomplished attorney, earning his juris doctorate from Loyola University New Orleans School of Law in 1978. He spent nearly 10 years in private practice before joining the legal team of the Federal Department Insurance Corporation (FDIC) in 1989. Initially based in Shreveport, he relocated to Chicago, and finally Memphis, in 1990. Michael retired as a senior attorney with the FDIC in 2016.He is also a graduate of the University of New Orleans and the Jesuit High School (New Orleans).Friends, family, and others who knew and loved Michael are invited to attend a visitation in his honor from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 29. His celebration of life service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 30. Both will take place at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Ave., Memphis, Tenn.In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the American Lung Association, American Cancer Society, the Fresh Start Sheltie Rescue (Bartlett, Tenn.), or the individual’s charity of choice.
