“Mr. Mike” we adored y’all as a neighboring kin! You never delayed on betrusting the best lawn in the entire neighborhood!! I remember my own dad being jealous of how nice and pristine the green lawn you had, and NOT just that but also the shine on every car in the drive! I will never forget you and the best grass on an entire street!!!!!
"Mr. Mike," as I called him growing up, was the perfect neighbor to have as a young boy. He always looked after the neighborhood and never batted an eye when my brother and I would routinely enter his yard to extend our playing field. Kind, thoughtful, and non-assuming are the three words that come to mind when I think of him, and he will always be the standard by which I will (and have) measure all my neighbors against.
Let me add that he always came to our BBQ’s and Fourth of July fireworks shows when we would dim the streetlights. Susan was one of first babysitters. We could always count on Mary to keep an eye on things while we were out of town and Mike was washing the paint off his cars (inside joke we had - he kept his cars up well). And if I cut my grass, the bet I had with my wife was that Mike would cut it before the sun set on the next day. That’s how he rolled. So many memories. I don’t know where to begin. He was a good man and will be missed.
We lived next to Mike and Mary for almost twenty-five years. Mike would always come by and inquire about the latest car project I had going on. He saw our kids grow up and always asked about them. You could not as for better neighbors. We will miss him.
Mike was the best Department Manager I worked for while at B&W. He was usually fair and knew how hard to push you for the best results. He had a low keyed but well developed sense of humor. I remember just one instance where we were sitting together in the back of a meeting at one of our annual conventions. We were tracking the number of corporate speak phrases we heard from each speaker. I was very sorry to hear from Bill Cox that Mike had passed. I extend my prayers to Mike's family.
For 25 years, Mike was my excellent next door neighbor. He always had a friendly greeting. He always smiled and asked how my children were doing. Full condolences to Mary, Susan, Charlie, Susan, Sarah and Andrew. Mike will be missed.
