Michael Karl Littlejohn's Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Karl Littlejohn, who died unexpectedly at the age of 74 in Knoxville, Tennessee. Born on October 7, 1951, in Memphis and raised by Annie B. and Nathan alongside six sisters and one brother, Mike learned the strong pillars of family values and commitment to others that made him a cherished presence to everyone around him. His devotion to the University of Tennessee was unparalleled. After earning his degree from the UT College of Business in 1973 and beginning a 32-year career at IBM, Mike dedicated himself to years of service to UT, including student recruitment, the UT Development Council, and the UT Foundation Board of Directors, where he served as chair in 2019 and 2020. Giving back to UT and to others was always an important part of Mike’s life. In 2000, he founded the Mike Littlejohn Scholarship Endowment at the Haslam College of Business. Since its inception, the endowment has supported 74 students in pursuing a college education. Outside of work and volunteering, Mike loved fishing, traveling, and anything connected to Tennessee athletics. He followed the Vols wholeheartedly, with enthusiasm and bravado, everywhere he went. His blood ran orange and white. Mike is survived by his soulmate, Carol, and his two sons, Karl and Drew. Services will be held in Memphis with details to be announced shortly.
