Mrs. Michael Basler's Obituary
Mrs. Michael Elizabeth Basler, age 75, of Bartlett, TN passed away Saturday, November 17, at Methodist University Hospital, Memphis, TN. She was in Hospice care. Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, November 27 with family visitation from 9-10 a.m. and Mass to follow at 10 a.m., both at St. Louis Catholic Church, 203 S White Station Road, Memphis, TN 38117. Mrs. Basler (known as Mike or Mikey) was born February 17, 1943 to L. Doral and Dorothy Flynn in Columbia, MO. She attended the University of Missouri and received both her Bachelor and Masters degrees there. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta social sorority at the University of Missouri. She taught Spanish in St. Louis for two years prior to marrying and becoming a full-time mother. She loved all animals, especially horses, cats, raccoons, and birds. She was a loving sister to her three siblings. She and her sister exchanged weekly letters filled with a variety of clippings for nearly 30 years and talk frequently during each week. She was a thoughtful giver of unique and creative gifts for many occasions. Mrs. Basler is survived by her husband, Gerald Basler. Their four children include Christy Baioni of Memphis, Daughter Karin and husband Scott Sinnott of Erie, PA, Daughter, Kathy and husband Dr. John Heverley of Erie, PA, and Son James of Salt Lake City, UT. Mrs. Basler siblings include Robert and Leslie Garrett of Columbia, MO; Matthew and Judith Flynn of Kansas City, MO; and Timothy and Jane Flynn of Columbia, MO; Carolee Ward of Elgin, SC, Leslie Wright of Asheville, NC; and Ginger and Fred Kelley of Warsaw, MO. Interment will be in Mrs. Basler’s hometown of Columbia, MO. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Methodist Alliance Hospice or to The Humane Society of Memphis and Shelby County.Arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave., Memphis, TN 38119 (901) 767-8930. “Celebrating Life… Behind the Stone Wall”.
