Meta Sue Woodall's Obituary
Sue Jones Woodall, 91, of Memphis passed away at Brookdale Dogwood Creek in Germantown on Thursday, November 13th.
She was born in Little Rock on April 17, 1934, to Adrian Dale Jones, Jr., and Mary "Tommie" Boshears Jones. She moved to Memphis at an early age. She graduated from Sacred Heart School and was a CBC (now CBHS) cheerleader. She attended Memphis State. She spent her career as the Administrative Assistant for the ROTC division of the Memphis City Schools. She retired after 33 years.
Sue loved life. She was very involved in all her grandson's activities. She rarely missed any of them.
Sue loved to travel. She took many trips throughout the US, Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. At various time travelling with her mother, son, grandson and daughter-in-law. She always wanted to explore a new itinerary.
Sue was very involved in Carnival Memphis. She served as Shelbi Queen in 1972. She was a part of the Bumpers tours that spread Carnival to the entire Mid-South. She later served as AANI Queen and was both Chairman and Queen of Memphis Jass and Blues. She was named an honorary Boll Weevil. She loved to dance. She loved to dress up and be the life of the party. She never met a stranger. She was made many friends throughout all the Krewes.
She is survived by her son, Dr. Charles "Chuck" Woodall and daughter-in-law, Dr Melanie Woodall. Her Shih Tzu, Romeo, was her constant companion and survives her. She was predeceased by her parents and grandson, Jackson Woodall.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 18th from 5-7 pm and her funeral will be at noon on Wednesday, November 19th. Both at Memorial Park.
