Melvin Earl Payne's Obituary
Melvin Earl Payne, 75, of Memphis, passed away on September 16, 2009 at his home. Melvin was a loving husband, father, and friend dedicated to helping other people, he will be greatly missed.He attended St. Williams Catholic Church of Millington and was a Master Mason. He was retired from City of Memphis as an electrician and was a US Army Veteran.He is preceded in death by his parents Thomas Alvin Payne and Ila E. Peppers Payne, a sister Ruth G. Payne, two brothers Alfred Dean Payne and Douglas L. Payne. He leaves his wife Louise Payne, his children Thomas Payne (Ginger) of Arlington, Chris Payne of the home, Bill Geene (Sally) of West Memphis, AR, Nita Harkins Jean Payne, and Angie Kee (Chris) all of Arlington, TN. He also leaves his sisters Pauline Acree (Grover) of Arlington, TN, Betty Payne Shearon of Millington, TN, and Linda Jenel (Joe) of Pleasant Prairie ,WI, as well as ten grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, eight nephews and seven nieces.The family will be receiving friends from 5-7 on Thursday, September 17, 2009, at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held on Friday, September 18, 2009, at 11:00 am at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.
