Melissa Chiles' Obituary
MELISSA BELCHER CHILES, 42, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 15, 2012. She was a loving daughter, sister, mother, sister-in-law, daughter-in-law, teacher and friend. Melissa graduated from Germantown High School, earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Memphis, and a Master’s of Science in Elementary Education from Union University. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. Employed by Shelby County Schools for 17 years, Melissa taught at Mt. Pisgah Middle and Lakeland Elementary. She was preceded in death by her father, Rowe M. Belcher, Jr. and is survived by her loving husband of 19 years, William Kevin Chiles; her five year old son, William Graham Chiles; mother, Susan Belcher Russell; stepfather, Donald Russell; brother, Trey Belcher (Lauren) and many more family members. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, compassionate heart and love for her family. Her positive influence on the lives of so many children has made the world a better place to live. Visitation will be at Memorial Park Funeral Home, Wednesday, September 19 from 5-7 p.m.; and Funeral Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. In honor of Melissa’s love for children and her brave battle with cancer, the family requests that memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
