Melinda Kay Olson's Obituary
After a long, courageous fight against breast cancer, Melinda Miller Olson, 65 years old, went to be with the Lord and her heavenly family on May 12, 2016. Melinda, born in Amarillo, Texas, graduated from Texas Christian University. While living in Ft. Worth, she met her husband, Russell Olson, a USAF Officer. Melinda and Rusty were married in 1974, enjoyed living across the US, had four children, and shared a loving marriage that lasted over 41 years. Melinda’s greatest accomplishments were her family, friends, and helping others in need. She was her family’s energy source, generator of unconditional love and never ending fun, and finder of all silver linings. She had a kind and generous soul, sunny disposition, and always lit up the room with her smile. She is preceded in death by her parents, Delmer and Shirley Miller; brothers, Maurice and Stanley Miller; and sister, Sally Miller. She leaves behind her husband, Russell Olson; four children, Megan, Kirstin, Chad, and Cody; and numerous other loved ones. A service to honor Melinda’s life will be held at Hope Church, Wednesday, May 18th, 11am, with a private family burial afterwards. Visitation will take place at Memorial Park Funeral Home, Tuesday, May 17th, 5-7pm. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking donations be made to The Pink Fund, a non-profit organization that provides needed financial assistance to breast cancer fighters, http://www.pinkfund.org/in-memory-of/.
