Melanie Maxine Munal's Obituary
Melanie Maxine Munal of Memphis, TN, passed away June 18, 2025, of complications from heart disease. She was fifty-eight years of age and the daughter of Lillian Ann Tullos Munal Smith and John Terrell “Jack” Munal.
Mel lived in Cleveland, MS, during her early years, attending Presbyterian Day School and Bayou Academy. She graduated from White Station High School in Memphis and from the University of Memphis. She leaves behind numerous friends from Cleveland and Memphis.
Mel was adventurous, and she loved to travel and be outdoors, particularly around water. She inherited the family green thumb, and she found her happy place working in the yard.
She was a deeply spiritual person and gained strength in meditating and studying the Bible.
She was predeceased by both of her parents and an aunt, Fay Tullos Sanford; an uncle, Willoughby Thomas “Bo” Tullos III; and a cousin, Edwin Tullos.
She is survived by aunts Vicki Tullos Meredith and Margaret Tullos, and first cousins: Will Tullos, Ducan Meredith, Katie Meredith, Sidney Meredith White, Annie Kate Sanford Worley, Shelley Sanford Owens, Jessica Sanford Tackett, Tambra Munal Anderson, Robert “Butch” Munal, and Teresa Munal Childers.
Graveside services will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery (5668 Poplar Ave., Memphis), on June 23, 2025, at 3:00.
In lieu of flowers and in recognition of Mel’s love of animals, memorials for the protection and welfare of animals would be appropriate.
