We were more than cousins. During summers in the polio pandemic of the 50's, Maureen and Sally stayed with our grandparents, in the house I now live in. I lived down the street. We were severely limited in playmates because there was no vaccine. There was just Reenie, Sally, and me (sometimes Erik and Nancy). We had wonderful times playing in the woods, in the lake, and in the wetland. We did everything together. As the last one left, I miss them both terribly. I will offer just two of many memories: Reenie called me one evening and said "I think I'm in love." That was the beginning of Reenie and Ken. The second memory, which I always hold--I can hear her laugh. It will be with me always.
