Mattie Bruce McMasters Smith's Obituary
On Saturday, May 26, 2018, Mattie Bruce McMasters Smith was welcomed into heaven. She was a woman of faith, a loving wife and mother, a teacher of God’s word as a Sunday School and Bible Study leader, a great cook, a fun-loving lady and a devoted friend. Mattie was born in Burnsville, Mississippi on November 29, 1931. Mattie is survived by her husband of 67 years, Travis H. Smith; daughter, Judy Cummings; and son, Stanlee Smith and his wife, Kathy. She was known as Gran Gran to five grandsons, Jonathan Cummings, Timothy Cummings, Joel Cummings, Franklin Smith and Matthew Smith and two great-grandchildren, Caleb and Caroline. She is also survived by many wonderful nieces and nephews. Mattie is preceded in death by her parents, William and Ella McMasters and Claude and Lily Boothe; seven brothers, William McMasters, Howard McMasters, Roy Boothe, Charles Boothe, Lamar Boothe, Rufus Boothe, and J.C. Boothe; and five sisters, Crystal Leslie, Flora Woodruff, Laurena Floyd, Willie Ella Phillips and Lois Dunn. Visitation and funeral service will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Poplar Avenue. Visitation will be on Monday, May 28 from 5-7 pm with services on Tuesday, May 29 at 1:30 pm.
