I was an SLP grad student from the 2025 cohort. Some of us had to take audiology because we hadn’t had it in undergrad! In Dr. Hollis’s class, we had so much fun. He cracked jokes (either from the slide deck or off the cuff) and tried his best to make our time in his class as enjoyable as possible. He was knowledgeable with no hubris, just a genuinely kind and uplifting spirit. I always knew we were in for a treat when I walked into his class every week! Our paths didn’t cross much, but my time in his class was one memory from my time in SLP grad school that I’ve always remembered fondly. He was a gift to everyone he encountered, and as someone who didn’t know him well, I can say that with certainty. His impression on me was one that was lasting, as I can only imagine it is for everyone else who has the pleasure of meeting him!
I have the greatest memory of him test my son Bently Jones eyes and ears and running other test on him while he was doing so he made so fun and funny because the whole time he was joking and laughing he had a smile that light up any room I still remember him telling my son when he get his age he will be coming to him to get his ears checked by him my heart is heavy because he was a beautiful soul such a beautiful personality he will truly be missed
