Mary-Dove Whaley Wright's Obituary
Mary-Dove “Dovey” Wright joined her beloved Bill on Wednesday, April 6, 2016. She left us peacefully surrounded by her 2 sons at Germantown Methodist Hospital after a short illness. Dovey was a loyal, long-time member of Germantown United Methodist Church. and was active in Chapter U of P.E.O. She was also a “Doll” in the Dixie Dudes ‘n Dolls Square Dance Club. Most of all she was a loving neighbor and friend to many, many people in Germantown and Memphis. Born in Chattanooga in 1925 she was a graduate of the University of [Tennessee at] Chattanooga where she was a member of the Alpha Delta Phi sorority. She loved being the great teacher that she was. After their marriage, she and Bill traveled the world and loved doing it. She is proceeded in death by her parents, U.K. & Lois P. Whaley, her devoted brother U Kay Whaley all of Chattanooga, and her husband William. W. “Bill” Wright of Germantown (and previously Chattanooga.) Dovey is survived by her sons Ledman K. Wright of Germantown, Winston Wm. Wright of New York City, her sister-in law Betty B. Whaley, nieces Kimberly W. Coffey and Lori W. Barton and their families all of Chattanooga. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday April 9 at Germantown United Methodist Church and a family burial will follow at a later date.Services have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave, Memphis TN 38119.
