Mary Lou Talley's Obituary
Mary Lou Talley, 84, passed away January 26, 2016 at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Memphis. Mrs. Talley retired after 20 years from the IRS, where she served as a Tax Accountant Manager. She volunteered as a Girl Scout Leader for over 20 years. Mrs. Talley used her love for cooking and sewing to raise money for the St. Luke’s Food Ministries. She and her husband, Billy, enjoyed buying and selling antiques at Old Town Antiques for 16 years. Not only did she love cooking, sewing and antiques, but also gardening and basketball, especially University of Memphis Tigers and Memphis Grizzlies. Mrs. Talley was raised at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church and later in life attended Longview Heights Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her son, Randy Sutton Talley and is survived by her husband of 67 years, Billy Gene Talley; children, Susan Ann Talley, Letitia Ruth Talley Holmes, Kevin Talley, and Carol Gates; sisters, Helen Wofford and Lola Alice Roberts; grandchildren, Melissa Hesse (Clint) and Michelle Huggins (Reggie); and great grandchildren, Dylan Ray, Isaac Huggins, Ally Hesse, Ira Huggins, and Hannah Huggins. The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. until her service begins at 1 p.m. Friday, January 29 at Memorial Park Funeral Home.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119. “Celebrating Life… Behind the Stone Wall”
