Mary Collis Simmons' Obituary
Mary Collis Simmons, 83, of Memphis passed away Sunday, October 2, 2011 at Baptist Trinity Hospice House-Collierville. She was born in Blytheville, Arkansas and moved to Ripley, Mississippi as a small child where she was raised. Mrs. Simmons moved to Memphis in the late 1940’s where she worked for Kimberly Clark for over 30 years prior to her retirement in 1981. She was a member of Wells Station Baptist Church. She will be dearly missed by all of her family and friends. Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Robert Simmons; her parents, Jess and Rosalie Hawkins; and is survived by her daughter Nan Riede (Theo) of Hernando, Mississippi; grandchildren, Rachel Tichy (Eric), Nadia Hughes (Geoff), Caitlin Carey, Aidan Carey, Dawson and Jillian Riede; great grandchildren, Alex, Ana and Piper; sister, Jessie Simmons of Panama City, Florida. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 pm, Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at the Rotunda of Memorial Park Mausoleum where the family will also receive friends one hour prior to the service.
