Mary Rose Standefer Pace's Obituary
Mary Rose Standefer Pace, 94, moved to her heavenly home on November 1, 2022, with her loving daughter by her side.
She was born in Memphis TN to Edwin Miles Standefer and Jewel Burton Standefer. A lifelong Memphian, Mary Rose attended Central High School and graduated from Memphis State University Cum Laude with a degree in Education. She had a passion for teaching and kept in touch with many or her students throughout the years.
In 1949 she married Robert ‘Bob’ Augustus Pace (the love of her life) and they enjoyed 58 years of fun, adventure and deep love. They truly discussed every decision and would always find a way to comprise (or Bob would give in!) They were dedicated members of Christ Church Memphis and founding members of the Saturday Night Live Service.
Her faith and love of God, family and friends molded her life. She never met a stranger and always had a kind word to share, so many friends, who touched her life will miss her.
She is predeceased by her husband, parents, her brother Miles Standefer (Rosa), and Sister Corinne Standefer Smith (‘Snooky’ Smith). She leaves her grateful daughter Cindy Pace (Fred Edmaiston) to celebrate her life and memories. Her bonus daughter, Jan Donaldson (Ted) and daughters, Sarah and Rachel. She is also survived by her nephews and nieces, Sherry Davis (Herb), Brad Smith (Cathy), Kenny Smith, Stan Smith (Candi), Vince Smith (Debbie), Rona Booth (David) and Ed Standefer.
We are forever grateful for her incredible caregivers Mary Williams, Sarita Wallace, and Aretha "Rita" McBride.
Visitation will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis TN, on Monday, November 7th from Noon to 1 with a celebration of life at 1PM. Reception to immediately follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations to the Church Health Center, 1350 Concourse Ave, Memphis, TN., Christ Church Memphis, 4488 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN. or charity of choice.
