Mary Roberts' Obituary
Mary Neal Thomas Roberts left this life September 25, 2015 at the age of 88. She was born in Jackson, Tennessee on June 23, 1927 the daughter of Lemmie and Claudie Thomas who both preceded her in death. After moving to Memphis at an early age she attended Idlewild and Lauderdale Grade Schools and Southside High School. She met her husband to be, Arthur Roberts while he was stationed at the Naval Base in Millington, Tennessee. They were later united in marriage on August 28, 1945. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother John and a Grandson, Josh Roberts. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, four children, Michael (his wife Dianne, deceased), Joyce McCrory (Bob), Claudia Bacigalupao and Amy Candy (John), six grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren two brothers, Jack (Mary Frances) and Buford (Connie). She was a past member of The Kings Daughters, taught a bible class for many years while a member of the Highland Street Church of Christ and was also active in preparing meals for the University of Memphis Christian Student Center. She was also an employee of Sears for several years. At the time of her death she was a member of the Germantown Church of Christ. She will be missed by many. The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until her funeral service begins at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 29 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Mary’s name to Methodist Hospice Residence on Quince Road.
