Dear Bob, Susan, Michael, and Megan, I just spoke with Mom and learned of this very sad news. I hate that I missed the funeral, but please know that the whole Klosky family is praying for y’all and sending you our love. Pat was such an important figure in my life. As I type this, I am thinking about all of the swim meets at the Catholic Club, sacraments we received as kids, school events, and wedding events (for both me and y’all) that your Mom was part of. I will never forget the love, kindness, and positive regard that she demonstrated not only to me, but to our family in general. Dear Bob, Susan, Megan & Michael,We are so sorry that we can’t be there with you today and tomorrow to tell you in person how I feel about Pat Reilly. She saved my life. In a time in my existence when I had nowhere to turn, she rescued me. Because of her compassion and her great big heart, I had a chance to live happy, joyous & free. When I called my son to tell of my grief over the loss of her, he said, “We are especially grateful that she was there for you. You were able to carry the message to me and, had you not, there’s no telling where I’d be now.” So, in us, she healed a family.Ten years ago, my husband had to go into surgery for a rare cancer, and we lived in a cancer center far from our home for a month. Pat and Bob came to see us, and she brought me food, because she could see I was struggling. She was just always thinking of others in this way. I learned from her how to share myself with others.We didn’t speak a lot, just wrote letters, and when we were together in Memphis we laughed so much. But this woman exerted an enormous influence over my life, and by extension, all of us in our family. My heart breaks to imagine her departure, and in truth I see her everywhere, in her infectious laugh, and in her sharp mind, and in the giving that characterized her nature.
