Mary F. Petrie's Obituary
Mary Frances Barker Petrie, age 71, resident of Eads, Tennessee and wife to William G Petrie, departed this life peacefully on Sunday morning, October 18, 2020 at her home, with her loving husband holding her hand.
Frances was born on February 4th, 1949 in Memphis, Tennessee. She lived her entire childhood in Arlington, TN and was a lifelong dedicated member of Arlington United Methodist Church. She cheered for and graduated from Bolton High School in 1967 and quickly received a certificate of completion from a secretarial school in Jackson, TN, which she put to good use until she retired in 2013. She married her High School sweetheart, William “Bill” Petrie, on December 14th, 1968, before he returned to Vietnam. In 1970 Frances and Bill moved to Manhattan Kansas where they lived for a year before returning to Memphis and bought their first home. Three years later they welcomed daughter, Brandy. Over the next 17 years Frances worked and cared for her family as they moved to St. Petersburg, Florida then to Tampa, Florida then back to Memphis in 1990. In 1991 she started working for Wright Medical Technology in Arlington, Tennessee, then in 1995 she and Bill bought property in Eads, Tennessee where they built the dream home she always wanted. During the last 14 years of working for Wright Medical Technology she was the Executive Administrative Assistant to the CFO, among other executives at times, and loved her job. In 2001 her grandson, Chase was born. She quickly found a love for the camera, and was seldom seen without one, which led her to become a scrapbooking consultant. In 2013 she retired to help care for her father who was suffering from dementia, travel to motocross races and attend sports events Chase was involved in. Frances loved her family, she was a dedicated Christian, she loved her work, she loved many different crafts, she loved to vacation and travel, and she loved to help others in any way she could. Volunteering, cooking, baking, scrapbooking, crafting and sewing are just a few ways she would show her love to her family and friends.
Mrs. Petrie is preceded in death by her mother, Ella Nora Sanford Barker and father, Brandon Banks Barker Jr. She is survived by husband, William G Petrie; daughter, Brandy D Petrie Davis; grandson, Chase A Davis; brother, Brandon Banks Barker III (wife Judy); sister, Carolyn Barker Forrest (husband Mark); nephew, Brandon Bradley Barker; niece, Jamie Barker Osborne; nephew, Brantley Allen Forrest; great nephew, Caleb Banks Barker and great nieces, Josie Lynn and June Louise Osborne.
