Mary Nell, growing up in Brownsville, Tennessee as the daughter of the Chief of Police, had my unwavering respect. As we grew older, her attention to our family activities endeared her to our circle of first cousins. She and Pervis always made an effort to be around for important occasions, and often showed up on my mother’s front porch just to visit. Heaven is welcoming her sunny smile!
