Mary Kathleen McKnight's Obituary
Mary Kathleen Conn McKnight passed away, March 5, 2009.She was born to Grover Cleveland and Lillian Reynolds Conn in 1917 in Kosciusko, MS. She was the widow of the late Byron Burton “Bob” McKnight of the Bob McKnight and the Ranch Boys. Bob was a blind radio band leader of the 30s and 40s.Mary dedicated her life to her husband and her family. Since the passing of her husband, Bob 22 years ago, she has resided at Kirby Pines Retirement Community. Her family called her ‘the comeback kid’ because she had overcome four major medical crises over the last 35 years.She is preceded in death by 6 siblings and their spouses, and a daughter, Connie McKnight Roby and her husband, Captain Ralph L. Roby of the Memphis Police Department.She is survived by her daughter, Madalyn McKnight Stanford and son-in-law Dr. James F. Stanford, their children Rick Stanford and his wife Stephanie and their daughters Katherine and Kristian of McLean, VA., Al Stanford and his wife Debbie and their daughters Hannah and Amanda of Flower Mound, TX., son Franklin Stanford and his wife Kim of Grand Junction, TN., daughter Tina Stanford Scoggins and her husband Jeff Scoggins and their son, Matthew of Collierville, TN., Wayne McKnight and his wife Lorene, of Starke, FL., and their children, Charlie Wayne McKnight and his wife Wendy and their children Jacob and Alexandra of Batavia, IL., George Daniel McKnight and his wife Linda and their children Robert and Megan, of Crystal Lake, IL., Susan McKnight Perkins and her husband Carl, and their daughters Alyssa and Cherie of Hampton, FL.Visitation will be held at 10:00 am with funeral services and burial following at 11:30 am at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery on March 9, 2009.In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to be made in Mary’s name to the local ministry fund of Second Baptist Church, M.I.F.A. or the donor’s choice.
