Mary Ann McKinney Lewis' Obituary
Mary Ann McKinney Lewis, 92, passed away August 21, 2021 in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee. She was born May 1, 1929, in Memphis, Tennessee. Mary Ann graduated from Mitchell High School in Memphis and married Richard Clifford “Pete” Lewis on December 6, 1946. They were married for 64 years before his death on April 19, 2011. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was known throughout the crafts community as “The Mouse Lady.” Mary Ann moved to the Del Webb community in Mt. Juliet in 2012 to be closer to family. There she continued her lifelong love of creating crafts.
Mary Ann leaves behind three children, Sandra (Ron) Joyner of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, Linda Adams of Quitman, Mississippi, and Richard C. Lewis, Jr. (Sherri) of Daphne, Alabama; six grandchildren, James (Tammy) Adams, Jr., Leigh Ann Joyner (Chris) Jones, Amy Joyner (Sean) Phelan, Brandon (Catherine) Lewis, Lyndsey Nicole Lewis (David) Schaeffer, and Taylor McKenzi Lewis; seven great grandchildren, Matt Adams, Clay and Drew Jones, Beck and Sadie Phelan, and Nate and Miles Schaeffer. She also leaves her sister, Elizabeth Allen McKinney “Bettye” Castleberry of Jackson, Mississippi. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents Lula Palmer McKinney McDaniel and William Allen McKinney, and her beloved Aunt, Virginia Elizabeth “Jennie” Palmer.
Mary Ann loved her family along with her friends at Whitehaven Baptist Church in Memphis, where she was a member for over 60 years. For the past two years, Mary Ann has appreciated the loving staff at Carrick Glen Senior Living in Mt. Juliet.
Mary Ann loved the Lord and was always positive and quick with a smile and a hug. God bless Mary Ann. We are better people because of her, and we are all blessed to have had her in our lives.

A graveside service for Mary Ann Lewis will be at Memorial Park Cemetery Thursday, August 26, 2021 at 1:00 p.m.
