Mary Mitchell Korowin's Obituary
Mary Mitchell Korowin was age 82 when she died December 4, 2025 from medical complications that developed after a recent fall. She had been happily living at Robinwood Retirement Resort in Bartlett TN.
Mary was born to Rev John King Mitchell and Betty Wilson Mitchell in Bellingham Washington, February 19, 1943.
In 1948 the family moved to Cincinnati Ohio where her father became pastor of North Presbyterian Church and she gained a brother, Stephen Alexander Mitchell.
In 1957, her father became pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Dearborn MI and she grew up there until entering Alma College in Alma MI and graduated with a BA in education. She then taught at elementary schools in Connecticut and Michigan and received her Masters in education at University of Michigan.
In 1973, her father married her to the love of her life, Dennis Michael Korowin. They lived and worked in Michigan, Ft Worth TX, and finally Bartlett TN. Denny died 2023. Mary loved teaching the children at Dogwood Elementary in Germantown until she retired.
Like her mother, Mary was a lifelong PEO. She was a contributing member of Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), National Society Sons and Daughters of the Pilgrims, and six other lineage/historical preservation societies. Mary was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church of Bartlett and served as an elder and a choir member.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 19th at 11:00 at Grace Presbyterian Church, 6671 Yale Road, Bartlett TN 38134.
