Mary Alice Kinney's Obituary
Mary Alice Kinney, known to friends and family as Alice, died at Wesley Highland Manor Monday at 8:00 AM after a prolonged illness.She was the daughter of John Jesse and Sophie Wright Hance formerly of Memphis. Mrs. Kinney lived in Fort Worth, Texas and Memphis before marrying William Alexander Kinney in 1932.She raised a Stepson, W. Alex Kinney, Jr., now deceased, and leaves two sons, John Deverick Kinney and Jack Thomas Kinney, and a daughter, Patricia Kay Iskiwitz. There are eleven grandchildren: Jack Kinney, Jr., Christopher Kinney, Susan “Kiki” Kinney, Wesley Kinney of Tucson, AZ, Debra Ann Kinney of Silver Springs, FL, Karla Jackson of Tampa, FL, William Kinney III of Tampa, Jacqui Eckert of Tucson, Jamie Iskiwitz, Barry Iskiwitz and Jesse Kinney.Mrs. Kinney also leaves friends from her 35 years at Goldsmith’s Department store where she was known as Mary. When she retired from her job as home drapery sales consultant in the Memphis Metro area in 1987 the department closed operations.Her husband of 36 years, known to friends as “Kinney” died in 1968. An aunt, Ethel Campbell still lives in Bre, CA. and there are now eleven great grandchildren: Keely, Wesley, Jr., Michele, Jack III, Phillip, Elizabeth, and Bradlee Kinney; Emily, Andrew and MaryGrace Eldridge; and Emma Iskiwitz.Visitation will be at Memorial Park Funeral Home at 5:00 until 7:00 PM, Wednesday evening, Sept. 30th, with a rosary to follow. A requiem mass will be said at 10:00 AM Thursday, October 1st at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 2448 Hale Avenue with interment to follow at Memorial Park Funeral Home.
