Mary Ingram's Obituary
MARY FRANCES SHAIFER INGRAM departed this world and joined her husband, Ben, in the presence of her Lord and Savior on March 28, 2014 after a brief illness. She was born on October 9, 1932 to Abram Keller and Frances Peay Shaifer of Clarksdale, MS. She graduated from Clarksdale High School and the University of Mississippi where she was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority. She was a member of the Delta Debutante Club, an accomplished pianist and artist having owned and operated an art gallery in Germantown, TN. She spent her life in Greenville, MS, Memphis, TN, Hot Springs Village, AR, before returning to Cordova, TN to be near her son. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Godfrey Benjamin “Ben” Ingram, her parents, and grandparents, P.L. and Elizabeth Shaifer of Port Gibson, MS, Rufus Dawson and Lura Gray Peay of Clarksdale, MS. She is survived by her son, Benjamin Shaifer Ingram (Karla); daughter, Frances Ingram McCarty of the Dominican Republic; four granddaughters, Jessica Houston, Elle McCarty, Ceail McCarty, Skye McCarty; brother, Leon Keller Shaifer (Dee) of Brandon, MS; and nieces, Sally Ann Shaifer Shook, Leigh Ann Shaifer Glover, Mary Keller Shaifer Russell, Demarla Shaifer Brinson, and many beloved friends she made through her life’s journey. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until Service time at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 1 at Memorial Park Funeral Home.
