Mary Elizabeth Grinter Hayes' Obituary
Mary Elizabeth Grinter Hayes, 88, passed away June 28, 2015. Mrs. Hayes was a graduate of Central High School and continued her education at Randolph-Macon Women’s College, graduating in 1948. Her service to the community began with her work as Parish Visitor and active member at Whitehaven United Methodist Church. She was a founding member of Whitehaven Food Pantry and an active member of the Whitehaven Book Club. Mrs. Hayes was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Hayes and sister, Jane Grinter Clifton. She is survived by her daughters, Anne Lulloff (Rusty), Carolyn Smith, and Susan Corum (David); grandchildren, Russell Smith (Molly), Catherine Stracker (Tyler), Sam Corum, Warren Smith, Ben Corum, and Tom Corum; great grandchildren, Hayes Smith, Mark Arnett, Clara Smith, Duncan Corum, and Arden Stracker; and brother-in-law, Larry Hayes. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. Her funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 2, at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, where she was a member.
