Mary Elizabeth Pleasants' Obituary
Mary Elizabeth Parker Pleasants, age 96, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 11, 2015, at Brightglade Nursing Home. She was born in Memphis TN on April 7, 1919, to Emil Lee and Muriel Lela Parker. She was married to Norman Woodson Pleasants for 60 wonderful years until his death in 2002. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Louise Coleman (Boyce-deceased) and her sister, Marjorie Parker. Mary is survived by her son who cared for her daily, Woody Pleasants (Lynn) and daughter, Ann Jones (Howard) of Memphis. She was blessed with 5 wonderful grandchildren; Jennie Pleasants and Ben Pleasants of Memphis; LTC Harry Jones (Laura) of West Point, NY; Jill Williams (Chris) and Lee Stewart (Josh) of Memphis. She was also blessed to have known her 14 great-grandchildren who all loved her dearly and called her ‘Memaw.’ Mary graduated from Messick High School in Memphis. She enjoyed working in retail sales for women’s fashions for about 30 years. She was a longtime faithful member of Lindenwood Christian Church for 59 years. She will surely be remembered for her love of the Lord, her love and generosity to others, and her sense of humor. Our family would like to sincerely thank everyone at Brightglade for all the care and love you showed to our mom. May God bless you all. Services will be held on Saturday, October 17, at Lindenwood Christian Church, 2400 Union Ave. beginning with visitation at 10 a.m. and funeral services at 11 a.m. A reception at the church will follow. The family will have a private burial at Memorial Park. The family requests that any memorials be sent to Lindenwood Christian Church. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, Tennessee 38119. “Celebrating Life… Behind the Stone Wall”
