Mary Madelyn Driver Cole's Obituary
Mary Madelyn Driver Cole, age 90, wife of John M. Cole, Jr. of Cordova for 69 years, passed away on November 10, 2014. Madelyn lived most of her life in Memphis. She graduated from Messick High School and worked at Sears in the Credit Department for 23 years. Madelyn was preceded in death by her mother, Maude Blanche Teague Driver and father, B. T. Driver, Sr., and her four brothers, Arthur Gilbert Driver, B. T. “Buddy” Driver, Jr., Malvin Coleman Driver, Sr. and Rev. Miles Eugene “Sonny” Driver. She was a member of Independent Presbyterian Church. Madelyn was a loving, devoted Mother to her three daughters, Beverly (Bill) Hooker, Cindy (Ray) Wilson, both from Memphis, and Patricia (Carter) Hutchins from Columbus, MS. Other survivors include nine grandchildren, Jessica Orians, Amy Hutchins, Cindy Krutz, Rachel DeFazio, Wiley Hutchins, Joseph Hooker, Rebekah McGaughey, Ray Wilson, Jr. and John Wilson, and 10 great-grandchildren. In addition, she leaves several nieces and nephews, who affectionately called her Aunt Mimi. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Thursday, November 13 and funeral services will be 1 p.m., Friday, November 14 at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Independent Presbyterian Church, the Salvation Army or Union Mission. “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
