Mary Evelyn Dixon's Obituary
Mary Evelyn Dixon, a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on January 20, 2025, in Memphis, Tennessee, at the age of 75. Born on July 1, 1949, in Memphis to JT and Margaret Webb, Mary grew up in the city she loved. She graduated from Germantown High School in 1967 and later earned a degree in industrial engineering from State Technical Institute at Memphis (now Southwest Tennessee Community College). Mary began her career at IBM in Virginia, where she met and married David Dixon, the father of her two daughters. She chose to dedicate herself to raising her children as a stay-at-home mom before later pursuing a career as a kitchen designer. A devout Christian, Mary found joy in her faith and cherished time spent with loved ones. She adored being a grandmother to her beloved Penelope Mosby and was determined to fight her battle with uterine cancer to see her granddaughter grow up. Mary was also a breast cancer survivor, demonstrating strength and resilience throughout her life. She loved the lake and the beach, finding peace and happiness near the water. Her best friend of over 50 years, Jo Lyn Beaver, was affectionately known as her "partner in crime," sharing countless memories and adventures together. Mary is survived by her daughters Amanda Dixon and Candice (Dixon) Mosby, son-in-law Travis Mosby, granddaughter Penelope Mosby, and her sister Susan Webb. A celebration of Mary’s life will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Ave., Memphis TN. Visitation begins at 1:00 pm. The burial will follow the service in Memorial Park Cemetery.
