Mary L. Cowgill's Obituary
Mary Louise Baughman Cowgill, 90, passed into the arms of our Lord on June 23, 2010. She was born January 26, 1920, to Robert and Mattie Baughman and was preceded in death by them as well as her husband, Othell G. Cowgill. She leaves her daughter, Cynthia Cowgill Dougherty, her son-in-law Johnny “Dark” Dougherty; and her son, O. Gavin “Bud” Cowgill, Jr.; seven grandchildren, J. Todd Dougherty, E. Ryan Dougherty, Robert P. Dougherty, Cindy R. Dougherty Jeans, Chris Gavin Cowgill, Tricia Cowgill Sicola, and Susan Cowgill Sims; and four great grandchildren, Sidney Sims, Bradley Jeans, Alex Jeans and Elizabeth Jeans. Also surviving are two sisters, Thelma Morgan and Aleen Mobley, and her precious caregiver Gladys B. Warren, and a host of relatives and friends who will miss her tremendously. She was a member of Woodlawn order of The Eastern Star, and a member of Redeemer Evangelical Church. She retired from the Memphis Police Department as a crossing guard at Hollywood and Jackson after 31 years of service. A visitation will be held Friday, June 25, 2010 from 5 until 7 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. The celebration of life will be at Memorial Park Saturday, June 26, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be sent to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
