Mary Bond Clifton Sanford's Obituary
Mary Bond Clifton Sanford, died peacefully on Sunday, May 8, 2011 after a long illness. She is survived by husband, Marvin Sanford, daughter Karen Sanford of Memphis, son Keith Sanford and granddaughter Amanda Sanford of Knoxville, TN. She graduated from St. Agnes Academy and attended Siena College. She was a long time employee of Will H. Higgins Company. In 1954 she married Marvin Sanford her husband of 57 years. Mrs. Sanford’s love of travel took the family on various destinations from coast to coast. She was an active participant in her husband’s Army reunions and helped coordinate many of the reunions in Tennessee. Her love of children led her to volunteer at the Children’s Museum of Memphis. Mrs. Sanford enjoyed sports and was a fan of the Memphis Tigers. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a Rosary to immediately follow at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 10. The funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 11, at St. Peters Catholic Church, 190 Adams St. Memphis. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be sent to either the Ronald McDonald House of Memphis or St. Mary’s Soup Kitchen.
