Mary W. Butler's Obituary
Mary W. Butler, 96 of Memphis Tennessee passed away peacefully on September 18, 2023. Born on May 27, 1927, in Clarksville, TN. to Cyril Wilson and Helen Schaumburger. She was a graduate of Clarksville High School and Austin Peay University. Mrs. Butler taught 40+ years in the catholic school system in Nashville; Birmingham, Alabama; and Memphis.
After retirement she enjoyed spending time with her family, volunteering at Lichterman Nature Center and serving as a Eucharistic minister at Holy Spirit Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 75 years, John Butler, her parents, a brother and granddaughter Ashley.
She is survived by her three children Allen Butler (Hilary), David Butler and Carol Browning (John), nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
A Private, Family service will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff, caregivers and nurses at Hearthside Senior Living in Collierville where she lived the last four years for their love and kindness.
The family requests that any memorials be send to St. Jude Hospital in lieu of flowers. (stjude.org)
