Mary Elizabeth Ditto Brooks' Obituary
Mary Elizabeth (Bitty) Ditto Brooks was born on July 14, 1928 to the late Peter John and Lillie Mae Ditto of Memphis, Tennessee.
She was the sixth of seven children. Bitty went to Messick High School and was the first of her family to attend college at Union University. She became a RN and worked at Baptist Hospital before spending almost 30 years at the VA Medical Center in Memphis working in spinal cord rehab. Bitty married E I Brooks in 1952 and had three children.
She was an active member of Buntyn Street Baptist Church and Audubon Park Baptist Church in Memphis. She later attended Twin Lakes Baptist Church in Horn Lake, Mississippi. Bitty Became a Christian at the age of 16, and was known to share her faith with everyone she met. She was generous with her time and money, and loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bitty passed away on Saturday March 5, 2022 at the age of 93. She was preceded in death by her husband and a grandson Will Glover.
Survivors include her sister, Carolyn Stovall of Madison, Mississippi; two daughters, Marsha Glover (Bill) of Flowood, Mississippi and Lynn Head (Stan) of Memphis, Tennessee; one son, Barry Brook (Pam) of Old Hickory, Tennessee and five grandsons, David Neyman (Lilli) of Pittsburg, Kansas, Paul Neyman of Olive Branch, Mississippi, Peter Glover (Tiffany) of Flowood, Mississippi, Winston Brooks (Jenna) of Nashville, Tennessee and Jackson Brooks (Grace) of Goodlettsville, Tennessee. Other survivors include 10 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Bitty will be held on Friday, March 11, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. in our Riverside Chapel at Memorial Park Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Harland, Officiating. The Brooks Family will receive friends for visitation an hour prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorial may be made to Twin Lakes Baptist Church in Horn Lake, Mississippi or Samaritan's Purse in memory of Bitty
