Mary Jane Allen's Obituary
MARY JANE ALLEN, 86, of Memphis, TN, joyfully entered into the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ on January 13, 2011. Janie, as she is called by her friends, is survived by her husband: Donald C. Allen; two daughters: Dianne Guthrie and husband, Robert Guthrie of Dallas, TX and Cynthia Johnson and husband, David Johnson of Memphis, TN. Hanie has five grandchildren: Stephen Ashworth of Phoenix, AZ, Emily Tippett of Dallas, TX, Tonya Shuman of Sterling, IL, Wade Messer of Mason, OH, Pamela Workman of Gulfport, MS and seven great-grandchildren, who all love her dearly. Janie was born in Dallas, TX to Frank and Mildred Dunn, whose ancestry was the second family to homestead on the land by the Trinity River which is now Dallas, TX. She is now a member of First Evangelical Church and has spent a lifetime ministering as a Sunday School teacher in many churches. She has a life history of caring for others aw well as family in many organizations such as the Home for Incurables, Teen Challenge, and like organizations. Janie is a co-founder of The Allen Christian Foundation whose donations have assisted local and national missionaries, churches, Christian schools and charitable causes for more than a quarter of a century. She will be greatly missed by many friends. Funeral services will be Monday, January 17 at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Poplar. Visitation will also be at Memorial Park from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Interment will be in the mausoleum at Memphis Memorial Park.
