Mary Sue Burks Acred, 78, of Memphis, TN, passed away on October 11th, 2024, peacefully at The Pointe at Kirby Gate
Sue was born on October 15th, 1945, in Memphis, TN, to Walter Henry Burks and Velma Idell Burks Gravette with one elder sister, Evelyn Rodenbach and 2 older brothers, Curtis Burks and Donnie Burks
Sue Married at 17 in 1963 and had 2 beautiful daughters, (who played 5 sports a piece) with a 20-year marriage to George F. Acred, III.
She was a Key Punch operator, Computer tech, Hairdresser, Secretary, Insurance adjuster with several car dealerships and worked 20 years with Kroger Warehouse.
Sue was a Disciple of Christ Christian at Decatur Trinity Christian Church. She was a deacon and worked with The Mary Group and loved her Jesus unconditionally until the end and is now at home.
Sue’s family was her heart, and she is survived by her eldest daughter, Gina Acred, her sister-in-law, Ellen Burks, nieces and nephews, Carl Bright, Mavis Morton, Tim O’Donnell, Bill Rodenbach, Eddie Burks, Phil Burks and many beloved great and great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her youngest daughter, Michele Acred, her parents, Henry and Velma, her sister, Evelyn Rodenbach, brothers, Curtis Burks and Donnie Burks, and her niece, Betty Presley.
The family will receive relatives and friends for visitation on Sunday, October 20th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be Monday, October 21st at 11:00 a.m. in the Riverside Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment and repast to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery
