Marvin William Jortner's Obituary
Marvin William Jortner, age 88, died August 1, 2013. World War II Veteran. Born in Brooklyn, New York. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy for 23 years, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Commander. After retirement, he worked for Arlington Developmental Center, taught electronics at a trade school and worked as an Inspector for Holiday Inn. He was a car enthusiast and enjoyed woodworking. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy, and his son, Thomas William Jortner. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sarah. and stepchildren, Chris Dorian, Steve Dorian, Teresa Dorian, Jeannine Vesser (Mark), Pat Dorian (Julie) and Jennifer Buckner (Ken). He is also survived by a daughter from his first marriage, Gillian, and three grandchildren.Burial will be held Thursday, August 8, at 10:30 at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 4000 Forest Hill Irene Road, Memphis.
