Marvin Ikard's Obituary
Marvin Ikard, 81, was called home by his Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 9, 2011. A retired heavy equipment leasing and sales agent, his real passion was his music ministry of 65 years. He was Minister of Music at both Oak Forest Church of God and Christian Heritage Pentecostal Holiness Church in Memphis. He played piano and sang with the Evangels Quartet and on “Above The Clouds” TV program. Treasured memories are playing for or singing with gospel greats James Blackwood and the Blackwood Brothers, the Happy Goodmans and The Florida Boys. He leaves his wife of 60 years, Barbara, son Randall, daughter, Marvalyn “Marty” Marbry (Greg), grandchild, Roxanne Ikard, his mother Lizzie Ikard, sister Dorothy Witthuhn, brother-in-law’s, sister-in-law’s and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 8:00 pm, Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Poplar Avenue. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, October 14, 2011 with a visitation one hour prior at Christian Heritage Church, 3505 Houston Levee, Germantown, TN.
