Marvin C. Griffith, Jr.'s Obituary
Marvin Carl Griffith, Jr., 100 years old of Memphis, Tennessee passed away on June 14th, 2026. He was born on July 24, 1925. Marvin was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and a friend to so many. He leaves a legacy of strength, dedication and devotion to his family. A hard working and determined man, Marvin was known for his strong will and was admired for his work ethic, reliability, and the pride he took in everything he did. Marvin was one of the sweetest, kindest, smartest men that ever lived. He worked at Illinois Central Railroad Company in Memphis, Tennessee for two years, as an apprentice machinist. Marvin proudly served as an U.S. Navy Seal in World War II for three years, where he received many awards, such as the Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal (2 Battle Stars) and the American Theatre Medal. He also was a graduate of the University of Memphis where he received his Degree in Mechanical Engineering and Mathematics. He retired from Dover Elevator in Horn Lake, Mississippi where he had worked for many, many years as a Mechanical Engineer.
Marvin is survived by his daughter, Debbie Thomas (Allen) of Olive Branch, MS; his son, Bobby Griffith of Collierville, TN; a son-in-law, Shayne Smith of Southaven, MS; his six grandchildren, Heather (Mike), Donnie (Lindsay), Amber (Thomas), Dustin (Ashley), Josh, and Brooklyn; his five great-grandchildren, Micah, Anne Randle, Lem, Webb and Lizzie Kay; and his beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Carl Griffith, Sr. and Ruth Elaine Griffith; his beloved wife, Geraldine A. Griffith; his son, Marvin Carl Griffith, III; two daughters, Patti Lou Smith and Sandra Kay Ash; a daughter-in-law, Marty Griffith; son-in-law, Harold Ash; and a granddaughter, Kyla Griffith and many other beloved relatives.
Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 27 at Memorial Park Funeral Home with visitation an hour prior. Interment will follow immediately in Memorial Park Cemetery.
