Martha Jane Paessler's Obituary
Jane was born in Union City, TN in 1934 and died on December 22, 2021, at the age of 87. She was raised by her parents, Louie Joyner Park and David Henry Park. Jane was very close with her parents and some of her earliest memories were riding with her father as he delivered bootleg whiskey during prohibition. After high school, Jane worked at the Brown Shoe Co. until she married Charles Francis (Frank) Paessler Sept. 12, 1953. She and Frank moved to Memphis and had 3 sons. Jane worked as a housewife and raised their family in the Graceland area in Whitehaven. Jane supported the various activities of the 3 boys and spent time with them at the Graceland Recreation Club where she assisted with club operations. She enjoyed managing the household and her various hobbies. She was an avid knitter, seamstress, reader and did a variety of home crafts and skills. Jane was also interested in genealogy and compiled a comprehensive genealogical record for the family.
Jane and Frank moved to the Richwood area in 1990 and got involved with the homeowner’s association. The two of them were the welcoming committee and made numerous friends in the area.
Jane suffered from COPD and was in the Methodist Home Hospice program the last 2 years of her life. She and the family greatly appreciate the great help and friendship provided by the members of the staff.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 57 years, Frank, and her son, David Carl Paessler (Jan). She is survived by her sons, John Clifton Paessler (Karen), Charles Allan Paessler (Myra), five grandsons, Jeremy, Thomas, Brian, Richard and Matthew Paessler and 2 great grandchildren, Lucas and Jane Paessler. Jane did not want to inconvenience anyone, so she insisted there not be a funeral for her.
Jane asked that in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to the Methodist LeBonheur Healthcare Foundation (methodisthealth.org) directed to Hospice.
